Kurt Busiek’s Astro City can almost be called an anthology title. Created by Kurt Busiek, (Marvels, Untold Tales of Spider-Man), Astro City features a day–in–the–life style of storytelling that discloses the exploits of the Samaritan, The Hanged Man, The Old Soldier, Jack–in–the–Box, First Family, and Winged Victory, as well as the hopes and dreams of the average citizen.

Although Astro City is home to an assortment of new and fascinating individuals, those characters are simply a tapestry on which Busiek shows the reader that life in a place as wondrous as this has much in common with ours. The title has a rich backstory of the Astro City universe already established, and the course of each story reveals intriguing clues about its history. Kurt Busiek’s Astro City evokes a time when super–heroes were idealistic and approachable, instead of cynical and grim.
