X-Men: Lost Tales

    (Marvel, 1997)
™ and ©1997 Marvel Characters, Inc.

The introduction of the new X-Men in 1975 was one of the watershed moments in modern comics, and the excitement generated in those early issues was enough to carry Marvel and the X-Men franchise for the next 20 years. Each issue of X-Men: Lost Tales reprints four stories by X-meister Chris Claremont (with art by John Bolton) that take place during the first weeks of the new group’s adventures. Here, the original new lineup featuring Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Banshee alongside the more familiar Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm and Jean Gray, deals with issues like the death of their teammate Thunderbird and the relationships that evolved between members of the group. These stories originally appeared as backup features in Classic X-Men.
