Better known for his tough-guy private eye, Mike Hammer, novelist Mickey Spillane originally started in fiction with comic book stories. One unpublished comic book tale of Spillane’s was Mike Danger, a precursor to Mike Hammer.

In the 1990s, Max Allan Collins and Spillane brought Mike Danger to Tekno Comics. Rather than hardboiled detective stories, this series takes a science-fiction angle. While on an investigation in 1952, Mike Danger uncovered a former Nazi scientist working with cryogenics to revive Nazis in hibernation. In the ensuing shootout, Danger takes refuge in a cryogenic chamber and becomes trapped when the device activates. He wakes one hundred years later to a greatly changed world. Mike Danger, a pulp-fiction, no-nonsense, private eye, is a man out of his time in a world where his brand of forthright justice is as much of an anomaly as red meat, or love and marriage.
