100% True?
(Paradox, 1996-1997)
Cover and compilation ©1996 Paradox Press. Stories © their respective authors
Looking for tales of the strange, the bizarre, the unbelievable—but the absolutely, 100%, certifiably, and very probably true? Look no further than this magazine-sized comic which reprints features from the popular “Big Book” series from Paradox Press. That line included The Big Book of Death, The Big Book of Urban Legends, The Big Book of Conspiracies, and many other wonderful compendiums of real-life weirdness.
100% Weird premiered in the summer of 1996, with comic stories on such notable freaks as the “Elephant Man,” and Siamese twins Chang and Eng. The magazines’s “Department of Death” includes a decidedly macabre introduction to the electric chair with the upbeat title, “Old Sparky.” It also featured an assortment of conspiracy theories, and a “Weirdo World” feature with profiles of oddballs ranging from artist Vincent van Gogh to former dictator Idi Amin.
