Super Powers (3rd Series)

™ and ©1986 DC Comics, Inc.

The third Super Powers mini-series appeared in 1986, but by this point, it was clear that the whole enterprise was running out of steam. As the series begins, Darkseid has been deposed on Apokolips and is held captive in an isolated tower along with Desaad. Mister Miracle and Darkseid’s son, Orion, are sent to check on him and to make sure he is still safely confined. Darkseid, however, sees their visit as an opportunity to make his bid for freedom.

Meanwhile, on Apokolips, civil unrest is breaking out, and Darkseid’s supporters once again turn to manipulating earthlings as a means to gain power. Their strategy is to turn normal humans into super-villains, and do battle with the Super Powers team that had defeated Darkseid in the past.

This series ran just four issues in 1986.
