Armageddon
(Last Gasp, 1969, 1972)
™ and ©1969 Barney Steel
Armageddon, with its stiff black-and-white drawings, attempts to combine political and philosophical viewpoints (citing Plato and Hegel) with the customary good-guy/bad-guy conflict. Dr. Harlan Marcum, a philosophy instructor, and Ruby Sandow, a chemistry professor, team up to stop a would-be world conqueror, Sh*tsucker, who espouses original sin in all its forms. The fact that Harlan and Ruby engage in almost every conceivable sex act and are naked most of the time, adds to what must be the intended “satirical” tone of the story.
