D’airain Adventure
(IDW, 2007)
™ and © Idea + Design Works and 7174 Pty. Limited
The talented artist Ashley Wood teams up with writers Chris Ryall and TP Louise to produce D’Airain, an ongoing collection of three stories: “Les Mort,” “Black Magick,” and “Zombies Versus Robots.”
In “Les Mort,” a performer in one of the world’s most extraordinary circuses defies death night after night, recovering from shots to the head, plummets over twenty stories long, and being decapitated. But the fame he’s achieved from his feats isn’t enough, and he’s driven to search for something, traveling to a small American town to find it. In “Black Magick,” a small, suburban cul-de-sac is transformed when a mysterious new neighbor appears, complete with a fully formed house where an empty lot had been just the night before. “Zombies Versus Robots” speaks for itself, and readers can be sure that Ashley Wood’s excellent renditions of robots will be put to full effect here. There are a few explicit images, and this is not a book aimed at young children.
