The Mutant Book of the Dead

    (Starhead, 1994)
™ and ©1994 Mack White

Mack White’s Mutant Book of the Dead takes you through the bizarre world of Chester County, Texas. The county certainly has more than its share of attractions, including Tex Parker, a mutant whose head casts a shadow shaped like the state of Texas; the Siamese sextuplet Buck Brothers (Ricky Bob, Bill Bob, Randy Bob, Buddy Bob, Ronny Bob, and Bobby Bob); good old-time heretic burnings, courtesy of the Bobville Baptist Church; and the famous Rattlesnake Rodeos (where cowboys ride tremendous rattlesnakes).

Actually, the entire county is populated by mutants of one sort or another, several of which are introduced here. We’ll follow the struggle of Thelma Sue to become Miss Rattlesnake of Chester County, meet the strange giraffe boy (who uses his deformity as a peeping Tom), and get grossed-out as a three-headed mutant goes looking for love.
