Write Now! (Danny Fingeroth’s…)

Edited by Superman on the Couch author Danny Fingeroth, Write Now! magazine is a quarterly publication aimed at aspiring writers of comics, animation, and science fiction. In this issue, 27 professionals wax philosophical on two diverse, yet hopelessly intertwined topics: creativity and business. Since artists aren’t always the best of businessmen, the latter advice could prove especially beneficial.
Some of the creators, such as Bruce Jones and Kurt Busiek, fill an entire page or more with their wit and wisdom, while others, such as Peter David and R. Sikoryak, provide a mere sentence or two. Erik Larsen, Dennis O’Neil, Stan Lee, Neil Gaiman, and most of the others fall somewhere in between. The advice ranges from nuts-and-bolts practicality (hire a good accountant) to endearingly artistic (follow your bliss). Useful or not, it’s fun to read what each writer has to say.
Rounding out the issue are interviews with Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, and Jim Salicrup, “Creating Characters” by John Ostrander, a feature on writing for film and comics by Robert Tinnell, and more.
