The Cartwright Clan—Pa, Hoss, and Little Joe—helped keep the Texas plains safe from cattle rustlers, desperados, and outlaws on their wildly popular television show that ran during the 1960s. The show starred Lorne Greene, Dan Blocker, and Michael Landon as the family of straight-shooters on their ranch, and featured plenty of action-packed Western adventure.

The comic book adaptation offered the typical slick Gold Key packaging, with photo covers and stiff, by-the-numbers stories taken either directly from the television show or adapted from familiar situations.
