Hellhounds: Panzer Cops

    (Dark Horse, 1994)
™ and ©1994 Fujiware Kamui: Studio 2B/Oshii Mamoru and Nohon Shuppansha

This story, translated from Japanese, is set in the ruins of a country which was defeated in a war. Conditions were such that large numbers of the unemployed created slums in the capital city, and a special police force was created to control them. Its mandate soon grew to include battling terrorist guerrillas. Specially armored units, called Cerberus teams or Panzers, soon became known as the Hellhounds.

A serious manga, its art is in a more realistic and Western style than the well-known humorous manga. Hellhounds: Panzer Cops’ storyline deals with political issues with an emphasis on characterization.
