Adventures of Homer Ghost
(Marvel, 1957)
™ and © Marvel Characters, Inc.
Poor Marvel Comics. For years they tried to compete with top-selling Harvey Comics in the ’50s by attempting to cash in on the success of Harvey’s Casper the Friendly Ghost. This was one of those attempts, significant today only because of what Marvel became, and the fact that these two issues were drawn by Archie artist extraordinaire, Dan DeCarlo, who was a longtime collaborator with Stan Lee. But Marvel may have gotten the last laugh, when they finally did publish Casper in the 90s when the hit movie and spin-off animated cartoon series hit the streets.
