Cross

    (Dark Horse, 1995-1996)
™ and ©1995 Andrew Vachss

Andrew Vachss, noted for his down-and-dirty fiction on such titles as Hard Looks, returns in this six-issue series. The title character is Marlon Cross, former Special Forces soldier, criminal, and mercenary. He had grown up in a state institution called Sterling where the residents learned the hard way that only the strong survive. Now working as a freelance troubleshooter along with several other Sterling “grads,” he puts his skills to work for people with heavy problems and heavy wallets.

As things develop, it may turn out that Cross himself faces the biggest challenge: someone is targeting the Sterling crew, taking them out one by one. The smart money says that it’s someone who has spent time there himself, and has now decided to settle old scores. And unless Cross can find out who’s behind it all, he just might be next.
