The Tick’s Big Romantic Adventure

    (NEC, 1998)
™ and ©1998 Ben Edlund

The Tick is one of the great alternative press success stories of the 1980s: a popular, long-lived character with an appeal across a broad spectrum of fans, and a progenitor of a highly-entertaining animated series as well. The barrel-chested, lantern-jawed, bug-eyed superdude known as the Tick is the brainchild of Ben Edlund, who has returned to the series in the late 1990s as the creative mastermind and general editor. The Tick’s Big Romantic Adventure is one of a series of Tick specials brought out by New England Comic Press designed to showcase longer, freewheeling, and lighthearted tales. Here, the Tick and Arthur tangle with the nefarious effects of the dreaded “emotion potion,” which wrecks havoc with our hero’s delicate psyche.
