Powers That Be

Jim Shooter came to fame as a comic book writer at Marvel Comics in the mid to late seventies. He has worked on most of the more popular Marvel characters. He worked his way up to editor and then to editor-in-chief. In the late 1980s, Shooter left Marvel to pursue his dream of running his own company, founding Valiant Comics which published X-O Manowar, Bloodshot and many others.

After internal struggles at Valiant, he left to form Defiant, releasing a number of worthwhile titles such as Warriors of Plasm before that company fell victim to the industry shakeout of 1993–1994. Shooter then struck a deal with Broadway Video to create a line of comics: Broadway Comics. Their first title, Powers That Be, debuted in 1995 and introduced two super-heroes named Star Seed and Fatale. Fatale is a woman who can absorb energy from anyone she touches. Star Seed is a super-powered caped hero who is strong enough to catch cars in midair.
