Carnage: Mindbomb
(Marvel, 1996)
™ and ©1995 Marvel Entertainment Group
Spider-Man’s black costume from the Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars was eventually revealed to be an alien symbiote. When Spider-Man rejected it, he found a new host in Eddie Brock and became the killer Venom. Brock, however, was relatively sane. Not so Cletus Kasady, a maniacal killer who became the villain Carnage when a bit of the symbiote found its way into his bloodstream.
After murdering dozens of people, Carnage was eventually apprehended and brought to Ravencroft, a facility for the most dangerous of the criminally insane. There he lives out his days in a locked vault, waiting for the chance to kill again. In this one-shot special, Carnage is visited by Matthew Kurtz, a shadowy scientist with top-level security clearance. Kurtz is determined to go alone into the cell with Carnage, peer into his mind, and find out what makes him tick. But not even Kurtz is ready to experience the madness he finds there.
