Series continues from Star Spangled Comics

From 1952 until 1977, Star Spangled War Stories was one of the flagship titles of DC’s line of war comics. In the course of those twenty years, it brought readers tales of Enemy Ace, Viking Prince, and many other notables. Although these features were popular with readers, it was not until issue #151, with the introduction of The Unknown Soldier that Star Spangled War Stories found its star.

Star Spangled War Stories grew out of an earlier title, Star Spangled Comics. After issue #130 of that title, it switched names to Star Spangled War Stories, although it continued its numbering sequence through issue #133. At that point, it retroactively decided that issue #131 was really a first issue and began numbering its next issues #4, 5, etc. All this was cleared up somewhat when Star Spangled War Stories changed names again (to Unknown Soldier) following issue #205.
