Paul Johnstone, the ShadowHawk, is dead, a victim of AIDS-related illnesses. And even in comic books, where death often seems transitory, people don’t come back from something as tragic as AIDS. So how is it that all across the city, criminals and victims alike are claiming to have seen the deceased super-hero? At first, Police Captain Arturo Rieves doesn’t believe the reports; sure they are just wishful thinking or even mass hysteria. But then he comes face to face with the mysterious costumed figure. Is it really Johnstone, somehow survived? His ghost, perhaps? Or maybe just someone new in the costume, like his friend Lou Jacks? After all, Rieves thought he was the ShadowHawk once before. Whatever the truth is, Rieves is determined to get the answers. He’s also pretty sure he won’t like them when he does.
