Menthu is a Sub-Marvel amateur effort trading on the reincarnation of an Egyptian God as a super-hero. This is all rather a shame since creator Robert Roach is obviously sincere in wanting to tell a story that’s something more, and claims to have spent six years researching before setting pen to paper. The research manifests itself as blocks of expository dialogue, the cast doesn’t behave in the manner that anyone you know would under the same circumstances, and there is a clipped simplicity throughout. All in all, it makes for a 1940s comic reading experience.
