X-Men Movie Prequel: Magneto

    (Marvel, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Marvel Characters, Inc.

Adapting the continuity of the X-Men film, this well-written Prestige format one-shot examines the motivations of Magneto, master of magnetic forces and advocate for the cause of homo superior, or mutants—those whom the world would persecute for their genetic differences. Beautifully illustrated, this story looks at the impact of Magneto’s days as a child in the Nazi concentration camps of World War II and follows his pursuit of the man who ordered the deaths of his parents. His relationship with the X-Men’s mentor and teacher, Professor Charles Xavier, is also established and explored as the tale unfolds. Xavier works peacefully for the acceptance of mutans by humanity, while Magneto sees only a course marked by violence and domination—which will, of course, bring him and his Brotherhood of Mutants into conflict with his old friend and the X-Men.
