Deja Vu (Radio Comix)

    (Radio Comix, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Richard Moore

A nameless witch and her animal familiar are enjoying a quiet repast at an outdoor café when suddenly rival vampire gangs start shooting each other with wooden bullets. It’s an ambitious and grabby start for Déjà Vu, a black-and-white independent gem of a book by Radio Comix’ Richard Moore (Boneyard). Tapping the popular Goth and vampire cultures (with a dash of white witchcraft thrown in for good measure), Déjà vu is simple, exciting entertainment as our plucky witch infiltrates the vampires’ lair to uncover the mystery behind the shooting. She gets more trouble than she bargained for, and meets a stranger who offers a link to our mysterious heroine’s past, a past that stretches farther back in time than even she could imagine. Great characters, realistically drawn women (no ridiculously overdeveloped heroines here!) and some nicely thrilling moments make this a book worth finding, even if its market value never goes above cover price.
