In Thin Air
(Tome, 1991)
Story ©1991 Steve Seagle. Artwork ©1991 Ken Holewczynski
Amelia Earhart was one of the women pioneers of aviation. She fell in love with flying at a time where aeronautics was almost completely restricted to men. This caused her to become something of a celebrity in her time, but her status as a legend was cemented by the mysterious way in which her plane vanished while crossing the Pacific Ocean.
It is known that Amelia and her co-pilot, Fred Noonan were experiencing radio trouble while traveling between New Guinea and Lae Island. They dropped in and out of contact with the naval ship Itasca, but never stayed in contact long enough for the Itasca to get a bearing. After that, the rest is a mystery. Did they crash into the ocean and drown? Were they taken prisoners by the Japanese? This one-shot comic comes in two different variations, each suggesting a different ending to this famous mystery.
