Nasti: Monster Hunter

™ and ©1996 Schism Comics

Schism Comics joined the “bad girl” craze in 1996 with its introduction of Nasti: Monster Hunter. Unlike many of its contemporaries, Schism realizes the humorous possibilities for the genre, and balances Nasti’s demon-slaying exploits with a heavy dose of humor.

The title character is Angela M. Nastibetti, whose daytime identity is that of a reporter for a sleazy tabloid paper. At night, the wisecracking darling of the editorial office undergoes a dramatic transformation. She becomes Nasti: Monster Hunter, seemingly gaining two feet of hair length and several inches around the chest. In this role, she uses an electromagnetically-charged, enchanted blade to put an end to various monsters and demons who dared to enter this world. As the series begins, she must use both of her identities to track down the “Shapers of the Future,” a shadowy group responsible for turning media magnates into demons.
