Lensman: War of the Galaxies

    (Eternity, 1990-1991)
™ and ©1989, 1991 Edward E. Smith, Ph.d & M.K. Co, Ltd. Eternity Comics, a division of Malibu Graphics, Inc.

Science fiction author E. E. “Doc” Smith helped to create the action/sci-fi subgenre known as “space opera” with his Lensman stories in the 1920s and 30s. Featuring a cast of space faring soldiers in mortal combat with galaxy-conquering demon aliens; Lensman set the stage for everything from Flash Gordon to Star Wars. After years in obscurity, Lensman and the space opera genre have emerged as the inspiration to a new generation of Japanese Anime—a medium for which the larger-than-life stories are perfectly suited. Eternity Comics began publishing new adventures of the Lensman in 1990 with scripts by Paul O’Connor and spare, effective black and white art by Tim Eldred, Ken Branch and Ray McCarthy.
