Sam Raimi's 2004 summer blockbuster gets a brisk translation back into comic book form and the 48 page treatment that results remains true to the film with minor modifications. Spidey’s relationship with love interest Mary Jane Watson takes center stage and arch–foe Doctor Octopus gets a revitalized origin story. Faced with having to affirm or deny his destiny, Peter Parker gets tested on all sides and comes out web–slinging. Aunt May supplies Peter with a moment of revelation and gets one of her own in the process. Chris Sotomayor's dynamic coloring helps the illustration capture some of the film’s cinematic splendor.
