Allred’s quirky Madman is one of independent comics’ most popular and enduring creations, an enigmatic super-hero with the 50s rebel cool of James Dean but on the verge of being a complete lunatic. Previous Madman stories have always been retro in style as Allred often pays homage to E.C. Comics and the Marvel masterworks of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and this double-sized one-shot is no exception, reflecting the format of Silver Age anthologies. Of the four stories contained within, only the first is written and drawn by Allred but each one is propelled from a similarly deranged perspective.
