Keenspot, one of the biggest Web-based comic-strip publishers around, is now moving several of its top titles to the next level—print comic books and trade paperbacks—and RPG World is among the first.

RPG World follows the console-style adventures and misadventures of Hero and his pals, including Cherry the Thief and Diane the Harlot. They go on quests, side-quests, and side-side-quests in their search for gold and EXP. Meanwhile, there are villainous creatures, creepy villains, eerily repetitious villagers, catgirls, and swimsuit pageants. Maybe they’ll eventually figure out who is in love with whom, and why the world’s so weird, and what their real quest might actually be—as long as nobody removes the memory chip.

The art quality leaves much to be desired, but, since this volume collects the earliest strips, that can be forgiven. The endearing characters, engaging world, and fun stories the author creates are more than sufficient to make up for the art. RPG World proves that, in an adventure quest, getting there is more than half the fun.
