Forty Winks
(Oddjobs, 1997-1998)

Pandora is a little girl who loves to draw just like her mother who died three years ago. Her harried father is doing his best to help Pandora adjust to her mother’s absence. She also has very vivid and imaginative dreams featuring an anthropomorphic snake and spider, (with French and Scottish accents respectively), that she uses as inspiration for her art. Also inhabiting her dreams is a large, multi-eyed dark shape that threatens her dream world and its friendly inhabitants. After awakening from one especially harrowing nightmare, Pandora finds her father asleep in his recliner before the television. But slithering from behind the easy chair appears a frighteningly familiar dark shape…
This black and white title is laden with symbolism pertaining to the insecurities of a lonely young girl and treads the line between fantasy and horror.
