The 1940s kid gang created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby is given a facelift for the 1990s generation. Captain America’s sidekick Bucky is a teenage girl, Rikki Barnes, in this one-shot facelift, and the Heroes Reborn version of Toro has little to do with the original Human Torch’s flame-throwing partner. Moreover, the classic western hero Kid Colt can actually transform himself into a half-human, half-horse hybrid. Bucky unites the youngsters via e-mail, financing the group through money stolen from their foes.
