The Body Swap

At England’s Norwich School of Art and Design, the final exam of graphic design students is put out there for all to grade. This large-format book is the “final major project” of artist/writer Roger Mason, published by Saxon Profile Press.

Stanislas the skeleton wakes from a 500-year sleep to find himself in modern France and is quickly distracted by all its temptations, particularly vodka. Before too long, Stanislas is drunk, fighting, and in cahoots with a hijacker, which explains how he ends up in a science class in England dangling from a hook in his head.

Though the bold layout has an experimental tone making the story difficult to follow, and the art has the feel of color photocopies, it’s a cute idea and a good effort.
