Fishmasters
(Slave Labor, 1994)
™ and ©1994 Fishmasters Inc. Stories ©1994 Carl Edge and Kevin Graves. All other contents © their respective creators.
Once upon a time, a fuzzy-headed idiot child was born into a family of circus freaks. Since he wasn’t a pinhead himself, he wasn’t allowed to perform, and was assigned to cleaning up after the elephants instead. Then one day, the circus visited Hicksville, where they got the customary “strangers’ welcome.” The bodies were buried out back.
The little boy survived because the freaks arrived late and seemed to fit well into the town when they did show up. He became best of friends with another town boy and they began fishing together, vowing to one day become Fish Masters. Now, years later, they have mastered the Zen art of fishing and have become true masters of the sport.
Fishmasters is something of a cult favorite as a cable TV show—a sort of real-life Wayne’s World for the fishing set. Its goofy humor translates well into comic book form as shown by this series by indie publisher Slave Labor.
