In the future laid out by writer Carmen Treffiletti and artist Kristian Donaldson, the gigantic urban sprawl of Megalon occupies much of the eastern United States. It nicely balances out the chunk ripped out of the west by some unknown catastrophe. Amidst the humans and aliens living in the megalopolis, Apollo Delk plays the familar role of “supercop with a dead family”; after saving three girls from a crazed terrorist, he celebrates his victory at the bottom of a bottle. The next morning he is “escorted” from police HQ by the mysterious Mr. Hand to a meeting where, with four other strangers, he receives a lucrative job offer. The dialogue and art are minimalist without being sparse, fulfilling Treffiletti's voiced desire for a mix of sci-fi and crime-noir.
