The Rocky Horror Picture Show: The Comic Book

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the ultimate cult movie. Produced on a shoestring budget, its combination of schmaltz, sex, and song proved infectious. Fifteen years after its release the movie was still going strong, playing to packed audiences at midnight showings. The trick is that nobody really goes to see the movie—they go to see the show: the parade of costumed moviegoers who perform routines, sass back at the actors onscreen, and do the “Time Warp” dance in the aisles.

In honor of the film’s fifteenth anniversary, Caliber released a three-part comic adaptation in 1990. In addition to telling the story of normal couple Brad and Janet who fall into the clutches of the mad (and transvestite) Dr. Frank-n-Furter, it also included movie song lyrics, interviews with the stars, and “chorus” lines that let Rocky “virgins” know what the routine is when they go see the movie.
