Toka

Toka is a jungle-hero who seems in remarkable shape for his age: some four hundred years old. He was born the son of the Lord Inca in the final days of that civilization. When the Spaniards attacked, he was switched with another child, who grew to be the puppet emperor. Meanwhile, Toka was taken away to safety and grew to be a powerful warrior.

But no place was safe from the Spaniards, and eventually the temple leader, Balsa Cusco, was forced to try a desperate plan. He and Toka drank a special brew which made them appear as dead. They were placed in a crypt to lay “until the temple walls break asunder and the sun shines into the chamber…to give us life again.” Centuries later, a giant vine split the rock, reviving Toka. He is now known as “the Jungle King,” and plays the role of a sort of Incan Tarzan in the jungles of South America.
