The Chroma-Tick
(NEC, 1992-1994)
™ and ©1992 Ben Edlund
NEC Press is best known for their highly successful and popular black-and-white series, The Tick. The company grew at an exponential pace in the late 1980s and early 1990s. As the fan base for the nigh-invulnerable blue guy grew, so did the NEC bank accounts. In 1992, NEC decided to share the wealth and reprint the early issues of “The Tick” in color so that Tick fans could enjoy the series fully. The new series was entitled, “The Chroma-Tick.”
Issues would often feature updated artwork and new articles by the Tick’s creator, writer, and penciler, Ben Edlund. Each issue also offered cards, posters, and other paraphernalia for the fans.
