Four-Star Battle Tales

    (DC, 1973)
DC

Four-Star Battle tales premiered in February, 1973. The early seventies were a time when war comics were enjoying a brief surge in popularity, particularly when mixed with supernatural elements as in Weird War Tales. Four-Star Battle Tales was fairly unspectacular, consisting entirely of old reprints featuring characters like Johnny Cloud from the Losers.

With the U.S. withdrawing from Viet Nam in mid-1973, it was perhaps not surprising that war comics did a quick fade in popularity. By the end of 1973, Four-Star Battle Tales had similarly disappeared following issue #5.
