Although it was butchered in its transformation from original violent anime Gatchaman to kids’ cartoon Battle of the Planets in the late 70s, the adventures of G–Force was the closest thing to a daily dose of Star Wars for Generation X. Under the guidance of illustrator Alex Ross, Battle of the Planets is revived for a new generation of fans as well as satisfying the nostalgic appetites of older readers. The protagonists of the series are a group of adolescent heroes collectively known as G–Force. Outfitted in uniforms that resemble birds, G–Force were assembled and trained by Chief Anderson to combat the hermaphrodite villain Zoltar.
