Asmodel’s a fallen angel, condemned to Hell after leading a failed siege on Heaven. That might have been his fate, had not the Demon Etrigan freed him and merged his spirit with the newly soulless Spectre, combining Asmodel’s desire for vengeance with the Spectre’s righteous judgment. Before long there are demons running amok on Earth and Heaven may have reason to fear Asmodel’s assault again, as the powerful being is determined to “destroy everything in God’s image,” using Earth as a stepping-stone to Heaven. Can the Justice League of America save the day? And if the JLA fails, will the Sentinels of Magic, including Deadman, Zatanna, and the Phantom Stranger pick up the slack? One thing is clear: any battle that rages across Heaven and Hell is going to feature numerous players, living and dead, including a couple of shocking surprises….

Sharply written by Geoff Johns and dramatically drawn by Matt Smith, this five–issue super–hero mini–series has lasting implications for a number of DC characters, including the Spectre.
