Giant-Size Creatures

In the 1970s, Marvel produced a series of giant-size specials entitled—appropriately enough—Giant-Size Avengers, Giant-Size Spider-Man, Giant-Size Defenders, etc. Some of these extra-thick titles featured new stories, while others were made up of reprints.

Giant-Size Creatures—a companion to Creatures on the Loose—stars Jack Russell, Marvel’s aptly named Werewolf By Night, a lycanthrope who often finds himself fighting on the side of the good guys in the Marvel Universe. In fact, this series gets off to a heckuva start by introducing Tigra the Were-Woman in an adventure that sees Jack mixing it up with the hordes of Hydra, longtime Marvel baddies. The tale picks up where the early 1970s series The Cat left off, following Greer Nelson from her short-lived career as a yellow-spandex super-heroine to her position as Marvel’s bikini-clad cat-creature.
