Power Brigade

The Power Brigade is a group of interstellar explorers who are charged by a sentient ring worn by one of their members, Nomad, “to know all that could be known.” The other members are Warlord, Shade, Omen and Michael Ice. The previous Nomad purposefully disintegrated falling through the Earth’s atmosphere, leaving only the ring, which chose police detective Michael Goldberg as its latest host. Now Goldberg as the new Nomad is prepared to leave earth for the far reaches of the universe. However the ring’s appearance within the legal system has brought it to the attention of the U.S. government which sends its own cadre of super-operatives, Bounty Inc., to retrieve it.

Despite the intellectual nature of the mission, the point of this book seems to be mindless slugfests between nondescript costumed characters that speak dialogue that is embarrassingly forced and cliched.
