March of Comics was one of the longest-running comic titles, surviving from the mid-1940s all the way into the 80s. Its formula for success was to serve up nothing but favorites issue after issue like newspaper comic strip hits Tarzan, Henry, Krazy Kat and Popeye. Also, blue-chip animation stars like Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Porky Pig, Woody Woodpecker, Scooby Doo and the Pink Panther; and movie and TV tie-ins like the Three Stooges, Lassie, Gene Autry, and the Lone Ranger. March of Comics experimented with short page counts (16 instead of 32), uncoated cover stock (rough, not slick), oblong format, photo covers, full advertiser sponsorships, and more.
