Augie Doggie
(Gold Key, 1963)
™ and © Western Publishing Company, Inc.
On television, Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy was one of three segments that aired in the syndicated Hanna-Barbera package of cartoons along with Snooper and Blabber as part of Quickdraw McGraw, a show that originally aired from 1959-62. All three segments spawned comic book titles with this one only appearing as a one-shot. Sentimental and cute more than funny compared to other H-B series of that time, it is a still memorable segment for such lines as “My son, my son” and “Dear old dad” as the father and son canine duo had their adventures together.
