Other Big Thing (Colin Upton’s…)

    (Fantagraphics, 1991-1992)
™ and ©1991 Colin Upton

In an autobiographical style reminiscent of Harvey Pekar’s American Splendor, writer/artist Colin Upton invites the reader to follow him through the little and big things that make up his life. A resident of the Canadian city of Vancouver, Colin shares his world view with us from the street level. He depicts the various aspects of his life, ranging from the strange and sometimes obnoxious people he encounters on the city buses to the atmosphere of a peace march held during the Gulf War.

A student of history, he draws parallels between significant moments in the past, and the events he sees unfolding around him now. The comic is passionately written and illustrated in a clean, cartoony style.
