Screwball Squirrel
(Dark Horse, 1995)
™ and ©1995 Turner Entertainment Co.
Tex Avery is best known for creating Droopy and the wacky Woody Woodpecker. However, he created many characters over the years and in 1995, Dark Horse gave Avery and his characters the respect that they deserve with a series of new comic titles featuring Avery’s creations.
Screwball Squirrel was a three issue mini-series that featured the wacky rodent as he harassed his old pal, Meathead the Dog. For instance, when Meathead got a job as a security officer at a new shopping mall, he soon lost it because of Screwball’s outrageous actions. Screwball, a master of mischief, did everything from high-diving into the mall’s water fountain to appointing Meathead a knight in the Kingdom of Cholesterol.
In the second half of each issue, readers will find a second story featuring another of Avery’s creations such as the City Wolf and Red Riding Hood.
