What can best be described as a tribute to the super-hero opus of the past, DC Comics reprints landmark events from the Silver Age of comics in DC Silver Age Classics. Printed in its entirety (sans the old-time ads), this month’s re-purposed title de jour is Detective Comics—featuring a well-known Batman tale plus the origin story of another of the imprint’s classic heroes.

The main story reprinted in this title is the classic If I Were Batman tale. A contest held to raise money for the Police Widow and Orphan Fund provides everyday citizens with the opportunity to be Batman for a day. Under the watchful eye of Robin, some of the most unlikely characters, including Commission Gordon himself, don the cape and cowl. Sandwiching the main story are two shorts featuring Roy Raymond TV Detective (a non meta-human hero from yesteryear) and John Jones the Manhunter from Mars.
