Part of the new line of super-hero books from Image central, this is the tale of Duncan Xerxes Absolam, the offspring of a giant Godzilla-like monster named Belloc and a human woman. While Belloc is out destroying cities across the world, Duncan (your average American teenager with the exception of his orange reptilian skin and his ability to breathe fire) struggles with moving to a new town and starting in a new school every time his dad threatens the world. Written by Phil Hester —better known as the artist of Green Arrow (2nd Series), and writer of the critically acclaimed mini-series The Coffin-- this is a witty and inventive book that shows Hester’s love of the classic creature features of the 60s and 70s and adds a touching boy-alone-against-the-world aspect. Another plus is the Mignola-like artwork by penciller Andy Kuhn.
