Ever since 1937s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney has turned out numerous feature length animated cartoons. The majority of them were based on fairy tales and other existing literary works, but in 1995 Disney tried something different and created an animated feature film based on a real person. Disney took a lot of liberties as little is known about the real Pocahontas, but it mattered little as the film became another musical showcase and became the first to pay respect to Native Americans.
