The Futurians by Dave Cockrum

This 1985 series takes place in a future where hope has gone black. A shadowy group called the Inheritors claimed ownership of the world, and dropped meteor bombs onto most major cities in an attempt to frighten the world’s governments into capitulation. A group of super-humans called the Futurians managed to stop them, but not before London, Paris, Moscow, New York, and other cities were leveled. As a result, millions died, and millions more became hapless refugees. In the wake of this catastrophe, civil strife has become epidemic.

The Futurians was the first solo work from veteran X-Men (1st Series) artist Dave Cockrum. Their saga first appeared in Marvel Graphic Novel #9, and continues here.
