Having finished producing their third series of controversial “True Crime” trading cards, Eclipse decided to test the waters for a true crime comic book. The true crime genre, once a mainstay of comics in the forties and fifties, has since fallen on tough times. This series, apparently, was unable to reverse that trend.

True Crime Comics’ tales ranged from the lurid Amy Fisher “Long Island Lolita” saga to methodical discussions of FBI probes into organized crime. Along with these features, the series included interesting discussions of forensic techniques, and sported generally solid writing Nevertheless, the series proved a commercial failure and was canceled after just two issues.
