The second volume of Amazing Adventures reprinted stories of the original X-Men from X-Men (1st Series). The new X-Men had appeared a few years previous to the 1979 debut of Amazing Adventures, and were starting to climb to the stratospheric popularity they would later enjoy. This series gave readers a chance to see how it all began.

Starting with a reprint of X-Men (1st Series) #1, this title showed how Professor Xavier gathered a band of special youngsters together to show them how to use their “X-tra” powers for the good of humanity. Later issues included the origins of Cyclops, the Beast, and the other original X-Men. It also reprinted the X-Men’s first encounters with soon-to-be-legendary villains such as Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. In comparing the old and new X-Men teams, the original comes across as far less flashy (and angst-ridden!), but the signs of greatness were evident from the very beginning.
